ABOUT THIS SHOPPING GUIDE

This digital guide is designed to raise customer awareness of small businesses in New York City. This is part of the Manhattan Chamber of Commerce Foundation's efforts to help local businesses recover in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. With the generous support of Wells Fargo Foundation, additional shopping guides will be released throughout the year at no cost to the featured businesses.

The purpose of this guide is to highlight local businesses. It is not an endorsement of specific products, services, or activities.

All businesses included in this edition have self-certified that they:
  • are LGBT-owned;
  • have fewer than 100 employees; and,
  • are located within the five boroughs of New York City.

Wells Fargo is a proud supporter of the Manhattan Chamber of Commerce Foundation and salutes its staff and volunteers for their advocacy on behalf of the New York City small business community. From Inwood to Battery Park, Harlem to FiDi, the Theater District, Times Square and beyond, small businesses pump life into our neighborhoods, making them vibrant places to live, work, visit and raise families – and they are the key to millions of local jobs.

While the COVID-19 pandemic created an unprecedented economic challenge for our small business customers across New York City and our nation, Wells Fargo is focused on fostering an inclusive recovery and strengthening the small business sector for the long term. In July 2020, we created the Open for Business Fund, a roughly $420 million small business recovery effort focused on racially-diverse small businesses hardest hit by COVID-19. As of the end of 2021, the Wells Fargo Open for Business Fund has committed $33 million in grants to 18 locally-based Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs) and nonprofits serving small businesses in the five boroughs that make up New York City.

We also played a huge role in the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) helping hundreds of thousands of small businesses get resources to keep their doors open, their employees paid, and their customers’ needs met. For the five boroughs that make up New York City, Wells Fargo provided more than $119 million in needed liquidity. 85 percent of all PPP loans Wells Fargo made throughout the entire program went to businesses with fewer than 10 employees, helping the smallest of small businesses.

We are thrilled to partner with the Manhattan Chamber of Commerce Foundation to support these small business shopping guides, which are designed to accelerate small business recovery and boost revenues.
